To celebrate Polly Pocket’s 35th, we threw her the ultimate nostalgia-coded slumber party.
INSIGHT: Polly Pocket encourages kids to use their imaginations to bring the tiny worlds inside the compacts to life. For the brand’s 35th anniversary, we asked: what if we could actually bring one of the compacts to life, so fans could finally step inside one and live out their Polly fantasy?
IDEA: I was the creative lead and developed the concept for the Polly Pocket x Airbnb Icon collab that reimagined the iconic ’90s Polly Pocket Slumber Party Fun compact as a bookable Airbnb experience where guests could step inside, spend the night, and see life from Polly’s micro point of view. It was brought to life in partnership with Airbnb and a multidisciplinary creative team bringing the nostalgia to life for og & new fans alike.
IMPACT: This iconic collab ended up being central to Polly Pocket’s 35th anniversary campaign—which included fashion and beauty collaborations, global events, and a major presence at San Diego Comic-Con—and earned a 2024 Toy of the Year® Awards (TOTY®) nomination for License of the Year. It generated 249M+ media impressions in its first week from outlets including Conde Nast Traveler, Teen Vogue, Designboom, Fortune, Billboard, People, WWD, Travel + Leisure, Apartment Therapy, TimeOut, CBS, and TMZ. As part of the campaign's cultural resonance, WWD highlighted Polly Pocket’s enduring appeal and the emergence of the “Polly Pocketcore” aesthetic, cementing the brand’s legacy while connecting with new generations.
